Year End Fundraising
November 15, 2011
Dear Friends,
Each year, the classes and programs at KMC Washington offer Buddha’s timeless advice to hundreds of people throughout the Pacific Northwest. Buddhist teachings offer solutions to the painful feelings that follow the breakup of a marriage, can ease the suffering of a horrible illness, and help us cope with the stress of everyday life. We understand that having access to a holy place and Buddha’s wisdom may be the most fortunate opportunity of our lifetime. How wonderful that we can offer this good fortune to other living beings!
All of our activities here at KMC Washington depend upon your generous support and donations. Please consider helping us continue our meaningful work offering Kadampa Buddhism to the Northwest at our Temple in Ballard and through neighborhood classes in Seattle and surrounding areas. Your contributions also help Kadampa Buddhism to flourish throughout the world by supporting the International Temples Project.
Through the kindness and generosity of your donations we were able to make these improvements last year:
-
Improved conditions for cooking and serving meals by
- Purchasing new equipment for the Temple kitchen, including two commercial stoves
- Repairing the Hobart dishwasher
-
Increased building security by
- Installing blinds on the downstairs main hall windows
- Purchasing a commercial safe for the office
-
Improved energy efficiency by
- Updating the air conditioning system
- Installing blinds on the downstairs main hall windows
-
Enhanced the outdoor space by
- Beautifying the garden landscaping
- Installing a courtyard water feature
We are looking forward to many new projects in 2012! Our main focus for the upcoming months is to strengthen our advertising and promotions to reach more people in our area. We also hope that these efforts will lead to the establishment of up to 4 more branches in the region in areas including Everett, the Udistrict and perhaps heading east to Yakima. One of our residential houses had the electrical system rewired two years ago, and we now hope to address this need in the second house. The NW 67th Street house does not currently have a bathroom on the main floor. To improve the experience of our many guests who stay in the dormitory room located there, the installation of a main floor bathroom is in the planning stages. To enhance the experience of Temple visitors we hope to further our improvements to the garden and courtyard, as well as give the bookshop displays a face lift. And although the Temple heating and cooling system has been updated, many components still need replacing to help them operate even more efficiently. This is just a small sampling of the progress we hope to make next year, and it all depends on your continued support!
Your Contribution Matters!
Your gift will directly support our 2012 operating costs as well as the improvements listed above. Please make your generous donation by December 31st. Any gift, regardless of its size, is a significant contribution! All donations are tax deductible. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. Have a happy and meaningful holiday season!
Warm regards,
Noreen Flack
